Digital Health Innovation: Intersections of Design, Technology, and Gender

The aim of this course is to identify, analyze, and address current challenges in international healthcare contexts through a transdisciplinary approach. For this purpose, the course focuses on the intersections of social inequality, politics, technological design, and health equity by asking how categories of social differentiation such as gender, race, class, and sexuality interplay with questions of health, access to healthcare, and the development, design, and use of healthcare technology. The course is thus aimed at people either working in healthcare and/or (health) technology contexts as well as people who engage with these contexts from a social science and/or humanities perspective. The course facilitates this transdisciplinary teamwork in order to critically assess, how challenges in healthcare and health technology relate to questions of social inequality, politics, technological design, and health equity, as well as to find transdisciplinary solutions to these challenges through for example policy interventions, academic papers and projects, interventions in healthcare practices, and/or technological and digital development.

Education level: Master's level

Admission requirements: 30 ECTS credits completed at the second-cycle level, and upper secondary level English 6, or equivalent
