Current Research in Business Administration
15.0 ECTS creditsThe course provides a survey of research methodology and appropriate methods for dealing with different research problems in business administration, including qualitative and quantitative approaches. The issues of how sustainable development and sustainable core values can be understood and studied are problematised.
Students acquire an overview of research in the three areas of business administration at Karlstad University:
- Accounting and Control
- Marketing
- Service Management
Each area is treated in lectures on current research and is followed up by project assignments, individually or in groups, involving students in writing about research and research methodology in a chosen problem area. Students work on articles chosen by the teacher as well as seek their own material.
The course includes an individual assignment involving the students in developing a research plan for a chosen degree project problem. The plan must include problematisation, analysis of method choice, an account of current research in the area and a time plan for the project undertaking.

Admission requirements:
Upper secondary school English B or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree with a Major in Business Administration or equivalent plus at least 30 ECTS cr in Business Administration at Master's level.
Selection:
Selection is usually based on your grade point average from upper secondary school or the number of credit points from previous university studies, or both.
