What are the Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships?

Marie Curie Postdoctoral Fellowships (MSCA-PFs) are for researchers to undertake their own research project at a host organisation (in this case KAU) in another country, thus enhancing their careers by gaining new skills through advanced training and, possibly, intersectoral mobility. The scheme also enables specific competences to be recruited to boost research within the host institution.

Background

Processes to support incoming MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship applications (specifically European Fellowships) with KAU supervisors have run since 2020. The support process will be coordinated again during 2022 for KAU staff who wish to supervise an incoming Fellow.

Who can supervise a Postdoctoral Fellow?

  • Any KAU researcher is eligible to supervise a Fellow, although seniority and experience is important is producing a competitive proposal. Normally, supervisors should be docents or professors.

Who can be a Postdoctoral Fellow?

  • This action is for PhD-qualified researchers, in all subject areas, from across the world.
  • The PhD degree must have been awarded no more than eight years before the closing date of the call.

Overview of KAU support process

  • The GIO will run an information session on the MSCA-PF application process and GIO support between 10.00 and 11.00 on Wednesday 29 March.   • Potential supervisors may already have candidates in mind with whom they wish to work. If not, the GIO can support by placing adverts on the Euraxess portal to attract candidates in specific research areas.
     
  • The next MSCA-PF call is scheduled to open on 12 April 2023 with a closing date (TBC) in September 2023. Once Fellowship candidates have been identified, the GIO will give feedback on drafts of the proposal and support with the EU Funding & Tenders Portal.
