Research
A motto for research at Karlstad University is: explore the unknown, challenge the known. Our research is based on strong, academic disciplines and research environments. A great deal of research is multidisciplinary, involving researchers from different fields who work together to produce new knowledge and solve problems.
Undergraduate and postgraduate education and research are expected to interact and support one another. Research is carried out across disciplinary and faculty borders and also in conjunction with industry and the public sector at the regional, national and international level.
The ambition is to make research productive and develop new knowledge without compromising the independence and integrity of research. The goal is to ensure high academic quality research with social relevance.
Around sixty research groups are active at Karlstad University in areas ranging from working life science and public health studies, through engineering design and media and communication studies to psychology and subject teaching methodology. The Research Centre for Regional Development (Cerut), Centre for Gender studies, Centre for Service Research (CTF) and The Service and Market-Oriented Research Group (SAMOT) are particularly successful examples of research formations.
