Technology change in the library
New RFID self check machine installed

This is a temporary machine which will be used during summer. In mid august two new self check out machines and one self-return will be installed.
What's beeping in the library?
Why are we giving away so many books?
What is happening?
During the last few months the library have been reviewing its collections. One of the reasons is the implementation of Radio frequency technology for circulation which means all items have to be tagged with a microchip. This then seemed to be a good time to sort out books not used for a long time.
Thanks to a donation from the Brita and Bengt Reijmer foundation we now have the opportunity to implement a technology which makes the handling of books and loans easier both for staff and borrowers.
We will equip most of our collections with RFID tags during May and June. New self check machines and a new return machine will be installed during the summer.
The tagging of books will take place among the shelves and some disturbing beeps and noise may occur.
