"A modern, outreaching university" is how Karlstad University describes itself in the strategic plan submitted to the Swedish government. A key element in the strategy is to provide opportunities for lifelong learning to employees of companies and governmental organizations.
Karlstad University Professional Services was founded in 2005 in order to facilitate the interaction of an academic institution with society and the corporate world. The company is fully owned by the University and was given the responsibility to handle all business transactions and marketing activities regarding lifelong learning.
The role of the company is to transform high level academic knowledge into tailor made courses which support the development of a flexible and highly skilled workforce, thereby improving the level of teaching and research at the University.
