Master of Science in Engineering, Degree Programme in Mechanical Engineering, specialisation in Materials Engineering (120 ECTS credits)


With a master"s degree in mechanical engineering with a specialisation in materials engineering you are qualified to be in charge of the materials aspects of the manufacturing process in conjunction with other competencies. Advanced materials analysis and detailed knowledge are required when making strategic choices of the right material for different situations in terms of properties and environmental effects as well as design and costs.


Education level: Master’s level
Prerequisites: A Bachelor"s degree of 180 ECTS cr. in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering, or equivalent, including thefollowing: Mathematics 35 ECTS cr. covering basic one andmultivariable calculus, introduction to vector analysis, partial differential equations and complex analysis, linear algebra, and computer numerical analysis and mathematical statistics. Basic science 20 ECTS cr. including mechanics and thermodynamics. Basic mechanical engineering 90 ECTS, including materials and design. Course/s relevant to engineering 6 ECTS cr. in the humanities, social sciences or gender studies.
