Engineering (300 ECTS credits)
In a programme with a broad curricular base everyone studies the same subjects to begin with. Then they choose specialisations. If you already know which profile you would like to take, you may indicate your choice when you apply. The following specialisations are offered at Karlstad University: Computer Engineering, Energy and Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Management, Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Engineering Physcis. International contacts and international knowledge are considered important and are emphasised throughout the programme. Students develop their understanding of other cultures and their knowledge about the mechanisms that govern the development of countries, trade and industry. You may pursue part of your studies abroad with further training in language which will make you attractive in the global market.
Welcome to a unique programme that offers a broad and general knowledge in natural sciences and technology, as well as technical competence within a chosen specialisation. You will broaden your knowledge of communication and languages, of society and economy. From the first semester real engineering problems to solve are introduced, often in cooperation with our partner firms. Students learn to interact with others in projects and to present their work in an effective and modern way. You will be a practising Master of Science with the speciality to work in a global market, especially in small organisations in enterprises looking to develop further.

Prerequisites: Fall-13:Basic prerequisites and Mathematics E, Physics B och Chemistry A. Area prerequisite 9. Spring-14: Basic prerequisites and Mathematics C, Physics A och Chemistry A. If you begin with the spring semester you will take one semester of preparatory courses. From the fall semester you will follow the ordinary programme.
