Bioscience Programme: Biotechnology (180 ECTS credits)
The bioscience programme at Karlstad University offers students the opportunity to study with options. Biotechnology is one of three exciting main areas. Students who are interested in bioscience but uncertain about which field to specialise in can opt for the broad curricular base bioscience programme and defer their choice.
Bioscientists use biological material to analyse, produce or modify products for areas such as new pharmaceuticals, medical treatment and diagnosis, and plant breeding. Research in bioscience has an increasing role to play in the development and manufacturing of drugs chemicals and energy production based on renewable raw material.
