Nanoscience I (7.5 ECTS credits)

This course presents an introduction to the most important areas of
nanoscience and its technological applications. Focus lies on understanding
the relations between on the one hand reduced dimensions and modified
composition of nanometersized particles and on the other hand properties of
and possible uses of such particles in various areas. These include e.g.
important organic systems, composites for mechanics, electronic components,
medical technologies as well as in the energy and environmental areas.
Experimental analytical methods and methods for the synthesis of particles
are introduced. A major part of the studies are carried out through student
projects.
