Anonymous exams
From 1 April 2012, anonymous written exams will be introduced at Karlstad University. This means that the student must state a code instead of name and personal identity number on the exam papers and the teacher will mark all written exams without knowing who wrote them. Also all hand-in assignments will be anonymous except for assignments submitted via the platform It’slearning.
Instructions for students:
Written exams
Sign up for the exam as usual via My Page at kau.se. When you sign up, a code is generated, NB! Note it down and bring it to the exam. If you have forgotten to sign up, there might still be a vacant seat in the hall for you. In order to get an exam code, you must know your course code. The exam supervisor/invigilator cannot access the course code in any other way.
The exam code must be stated on all submitted sheets, including the yellow cover sheet.
Distance exam/exam at Learning Centres
You must sign up for exams at a Learning Centre or any other place approved by the Faculty. It is very important that you notify an administrative contact person, as done earlier. It is also possible that you will have to sign up via My Page to get an anonymity code. Contact your course administrator for more information.
The exam code must be stated on all submitted sheets, including the yellow cover sheet.
Take-home exams/hand-in assignments
There is a change in procedure regarding take-home exams and hand-in assignments. From now on, such exam formats will be defined as an exam for which you must sign up via My Page at kau.se, to get a code.
The yellow cover sheet must be filled in and attached to written work submitted for assessment. The cover sheet is available at the course homepage, or at a place indicated by the course administrator. Contact your course administrator for any question. Hand in your assignment as instructed by the teacher or course administrator. Do not forget to attach the Plagiarism Disclaimer form.
Your teacher will give information on how to proceed if the assignment is to be submitted via Urkund. You will be asked to state a special analysis address, which will guarantee your anonymity in the evaluation. Make sure that your work does not include information by which you can be identified. Instead of your name as author, state the personal exam code, obtained via My Page, or your course administrator.
Note that the Faculty Board has the right to grant exception to the anonymous exam rule in special circumstances. Exception from the rule must be stated in the syllabus.
