Academic celebration

Karlstad University was inaugurated on 22 January 1999. As a young university, we wish to preserve a long-standing academic tradition of ceremonies dating back to the Middle Ages, while commemorating our own history and identity. We have therefore chosen to design our academic celebration to reflect our culture as well as maintain the link to the national and international university tradition.

Degree ceremony

Each autumn and spring there is a degree ceremony at which the names of all degree awardees are announced. The students are presented with a gift token on stage in the assembly hall, Aula Magna. There are music performances and refreshments for the graduating students and their guests. The Conference Service at Karlstad University can provide more information.

Conferment Ceremony 2011

The Conferment Ceremony this year will take place on September 16.

An invitation letter has now been sent to new doctors and new professors. A formal invitation will be received in the middle of June.
